The position provides an opportunity to gain real-world experience by working alongside our group of junior and senior level Transportation Planners, Environmental Planners, GIS Analysts, and Engineers. With the guidance and mentoring of senior staff, this position will provide a hands-on learning experience in the transportation planning profession. Examples of intern responsibilities include: * Contribute to a wide variety of transportation planning, transit, GIS, active transportation, environmental, and urban design assignments * Prepare tables, charts, diagrams, and GIS maps to display information for written reports and presentations * Assist with GIS mapping, data collection, GPS data collection, data analysis, and field assessments * Existing conditions report writing and editing * Analyze and map data in an engaging and user-friendly manner * Participate in public outreach efforts for ongoing planning assignments * Collect and compile information required for meeting agendas, committee reports, and presentations; assist with drafting these types of documents * Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member * Currently enrolled in an accredited university as a sophomore or junior is required * Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required * Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and ArcGIS software is required * Knowledgeable of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign) preferred * Presentation graphics and rendering skills preferred * Ability to work in a team environment or independently is required * Passionate about transportation planning required At Jacobs, we help prepare people for new opportunities and challenges.
