    Intern - Geomatics / Geographical Information Systems Job ID 2018-1194 Job Locations US-CO-Greenwood Village Category Intern Type Intern Overview Intern Geomatics / Geographical Information Systems Introduction Merrick & Company is seeking LiDAR/GIS Technician student for a paid internship for Summer 2018 in our Greenwood Village, CO office. The summer internship will run mid-May through mid-August 2018 . Job Description The internship will provide a currently enrolled student the opportunity to gain technical experience in the field of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and LiDAR processing. The intern will be exposed to a variety of projects ranging from large scale wide area mapping, NERC compliance corridor mapping, and small survey sites. The position requires the collaboration with other technical staff, follow directions and schedules, work independently, possess good written and oral communication skills and the ability to problem solve. Required Experience Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of degree program Must be pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Geography, GIS, Remote Sensing, Geomatics, or a similar major Knowledge and/or courses in mapping, photogrammetry, and aerial LiDAR data processing including: Flight planning Data management Principles of Geodesy GIS Orthophoto production Cartographic design College courses in any of the following software packages are preferred: LiDAR processing software (MARS®, Terrasolid, other) ESRI ArcGIS Bentley MicroStation Autodesk AutoCAD Trimble INPHO Must have a demonstrable good attendance record GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred Must have a current instructor recommendation or reference Local candidates only Students who have recently graduated will not be considered, unless between Bachelors and Masters programs.
