Job ID: 2205369 Location: FORT SAM HOUSTON , TX , US Date Posted: 2022-04-06Category: StudentSubcategory: Intern TechnicalSchedule: Full-timeShift: Day JobTravel: NoMinimum Clearance Required: NoneClearance Level Must Be Able to Obtain: NonePotential for Remote Work: Yes Description SAIC is seeking a biomedical engineering intern currently enrolled in a graduate program to join our Laser Safety team.  The individual will conduct independent research under the guidance of US Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) and SAIC scientists to investigate laser-induced photoacoustic effects through physics-based continuum mechanics models and perform model validation using experimental measurement.  Applicant should have familiarity with research publications in the fields of computational modeling of photoacoustic effects as well as neural inhibition and stimulation by IR radiation. This will be an intern position that will work remotely during Summer 2022.Responsibilities include:Reviewing journal publications, executing simulation studies, and designing experimental methods for model validation.Qualifications Required Education:Bacholor’s degree in biomedical engineering, and currently enrolled in a program working toward a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering or related field.Required Skills:Excellent communication skills are required to brief updates to research collaborators as well as higher-level presentations with senior leaders.Experience with Bash scripting for executing models and managing input/output data, YAML syntax to configure continuum mechanics models, Paraview for visualizing output data, and experience with a programming language or tool for performing data analytics/visualizations.COVID Policy: Prospective and/or new employees are required to adhere with SAIC's vaccination policy.
