Due to our success, we need to continue to add resources to assist with the delivery of our current extensive backlog of work. This backlog includes tasks associated with various infrastructure improvement projects for NCDOT (across all 14 Divisions) as well as numerous municipal, institutional, and private sector clients. The ideal candidate is an individual who is highly proactive, has an understanding of traffic flow theory, has good written and oral communication skills, and has an interest in learning and using traffic analysis and simulation programs. This role will perform the following responsibilities; Performing traffic engineering analysis, including impact studies, traffic design year analysis, corridor studies, signal system timing, capacity and safety analyses, multi-modal operations studies, traffic simulations, and planning studies. Preparation of technical documents and reports Requirements Minimum of Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Engineering Intern (EI) designation is required 1+ years of experience in a traffic engineering role as a full time employee or Intern. Knowledge and understanding of traffic engineering principals in the HCM, MUTCD, ITE and AASHTO manuals Knowledge of traffic operational analyses, traffic simulations, traffic signal timing, safety, and planning studies Experience in utilizing, Synchro, SimTraffic, SIDRA, HCS, Transmodeler, Travel Demand Modeling, GIS applications in transportation, and CAD/MicroStation experience is a plus Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
