    GIS Analyst - Internship Texas Utility Engineering, Inc. 3 reviews - Schertz, TX 78154 Full-time, Internship GIS ANALYST INTERNSHIP Summary Under general supervision, the GIS Analyst intern will learn to create detailed drawings for clients in ArcMaps 10.5 using field notes and schematics. Essential Functions * Basic understanding of points, lines, and polygons and how to place and manipulate them * Produce and assist others with creating maps for field crews * Identify utility poles and primary wires * Update and maintain internal tracking databases * Accurately tracks time spent on jobs * Communicate professionally with peers Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Competencies * Basis working knowledge of drafting standards and design * Familiarity with Google Earth * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (primarily Excel) * Read and understand maps * Read and interpret units of measurement * Ability to follow instructions, prioritize work, and complete jobs in a timely manner * Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid drivers license Work Environment The position largely operates in a professional office setting with routine use of office equipment; however, some exposure to extreme weather conditions/temperatures may be encountered when visiting job sites. Physical Demands Although mostly sedentary the position requires manual dexterity, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and the ability to lift equipment weighing up to 10 lbs. Position Type/Hours This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm or 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Occasional overtime may be required as jobs demand. Travel There is no anticipated overnight travel for this position. Some local day travel may be required.
