Kleinfelders San Diego office is seeking an Assistant Bridge Designer / Intern to perform planning, design, project management and construction support for bridge and transportation related structures. The qualified candidate will also be responsible for the following: - Research and report on findings for design code issues - Research design options and document findings for other Project Engineers - Review construction methods for bridge projects - Develop concepts and design of structural details for bridge projects - Develop construction drawings for finishing by CAD Technicians - Assure that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards and follow QA/QC procedures - Perform quantity take-offs for bridge engineers estimate - Review shop drawing submittals - Follow bridge design plans to the field for review of bridge construction - Organize and maintain project files - Assist project managers and project administrators with project management level duties including billing, invoicing and review Basic Qualifications: Formal education in civil/structural engineering. Bachelor's degree preferred. - 0-3 years experience in the analysis and design of all types of bridges including steel, concrete, precast and post-tensioned bridges - Knowledge of and experience with AASHTO and other pertinent bridge design specifications is a plus - Self-motivated, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment Education: - Bachelors Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or related is preferred.
