    Environmental Intern Department: FL-Orlando Location: Orlando, FL VHBs growing Southeast Environmental Services team is looking for an Environmental Intern to join our group in Orlando, Florida for the summer of 2018 VHBs passionate professionals include engineers, scientists, planners, and designers who partner with public and private clients in the transportation, real estate, institutional, and energy industries, as well as federal, state, and local governments. Together, we work to improve mobility, enhance communities and economic vitality, and balance development and infrastructure needs with environmental stewardship.  Responsibilities: Wetland delineations Threatened and endangered species surveys Plant identification and vegetation Inventory Water Quality Monitoring GPS, mobile technology, and data management GIS, geodatabases, and basic mapmaking Data entry, research, and analysis Writing and technical reporting Coordination with clients and regulators  Environmental permit support Skills and Abilities: Ability to identify flora within the Central Florida region, using online resources and/or other technical keys/regional references. Technical writing and statistical analysis Ability to work independently and as part of team in remote field locations and/or in challenging weather conditions Ability to travel on short notice, at night, and/or on weekend shifts, and potentially for extended periods of time Ability to think critically in the field and office Excellent attention to detail, team oriented, and flexible Qualifications: General knowledge of environmental science and natural resources Working toward a B.S. or B.A. in Environmental Science, Biology, Fisheries and Wildlife, Ecology, Natural Resources, or related field Coursework in plant identification, plant ecology, wildlife species, wetland identification, and/or aquatic habitats a plus Fieldwork experience in natural habitats, whether through coursework or professional experience   At VHB, were invested in what we do, compelled by intellectual curiosity, and driven to work collectively to best serve our clients and help shape the future of our communities in a meaningful way.
