AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE INTERN, PLANNING & CONTROL RESEARCH INTERN

What you'll be doing:

Employ self-play reinforcement learning to achieve a motion planner/controller that is able to safely navigate hotel lobbies that are densely populated with inattentive pedestrians as well as interact with other cars competing for a limited amount of parking spaces. Self-play reinforcement learning allows to improve motion plans by learning from playing against and interacting with copies of the autonomous vehicle itself. We will use common practices and frameworks from the gaming industry to explore the potential benefits of a self-play reinforcement learning approach in the setting of autonomous vehicle navigation. We will employ methods to tackle simulation to reality generalization as well as approaches that guarantee absolute safety in low-speed driving, unstructured environments.

What we're looking for:

• Pursuing or completed Master's Degree or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field
• Experience in application of machine learning and basic optimization concepts
• Knowledge of motion planning fundamentals
• Strong hands-on experience with autonomous robotics systems and ability to analyze and debug planning issues
• Familiarity with uncertainties in planner system inputs and some mechanisms for mitigation
• Fluency in Python or C++
• Experience with linux systems
