    The Motional global headquarters are located at 100 Northern Avenue in Boston, MA. Nestled in the busting Seaport district with sweeping views of Boston Harbor and downtown Boston, the offices are located close to major transit lines and a quick walk to various restaurants and popular attractions.

    PLANNING AND CONTROLS RESEARCH INTERNSHIP

    Motional is seeking a talented intern who will help develop new algorithms to optimize interactive behavior in autonomous driving (Planning and Controls). This person will help develop driving autonomous behaviors that explicitly consider and enhance comfort of other actors and engage in minimally-invasive and collaborative autonomous driving

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

    • You will develop interaction models between an ego vehicle and other road users.

    • You will develop optimization cost formulations that include comfort and safety of other road users.

    • You will develop algorithms to apply these techniques to real planning / controls algorithms powering our AV stack.

    • You will contribute to a suite of validations that prove your methods improve AV's ability to reason about agent interactions.

    WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

    • Strong C++ skills

    • Experience with optimization techniques

    • Goal-oriented candidates

    • Experience with uncertainty handling

    • Experience with game-theory, interaction modeling
