    The Motional Las Vegas office is located less than 10 miles from the Las Vegas strip at 730 E Pilot Road, the Las Vegas office is home to one of the largest fleets of self-driving vehicles. The city's grid system of roads and being one of America's “smart cities” allows for extensive research and development testing.

    TRIAGE ENGINEER INTERN

    This internship position directly contributes to Motional's driverless goals by understanding different issues to improve the overall software performance and ride quality. You will be working with different Autonomy and Platform Infrastructure teams to manage the issue resolution and mitigation feedback cycle. This role is a great opportunity to work on Autonomous vehicles as you will get a chance to work on different parts of the self-driving stack.

    WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

    • Dive into the data to understand (A) how our car should drive, and (B) how other road users ( E.g., pedestrians, bicyclists, and other cars ) interact with the AV.
    • Perform detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Fault Tree Assessment (FTA), Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) on several different test modalities such as -- public roads, closed course, simulation and Hardware-in-Loop (HIL).
    • Understand the Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Functional Safety (FuSa) and SOTIF requirements to generate, document and report the software issues for effective risk management.

    WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

    • Graduate student in Computer Science, Mechanical, Robotics, or a similar engineering field.
    • Experience with software engineering concepts, including requirements analysis, source control.
    • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analytical and creative problem solving skills.
    • Strong applied math background.

    BONUS POINTS (NOT REQUIRED):

    • Experience working on Autonomous vehicle projects.
    • Experience debugging software issues with others as part of a project team.
