    Howmet Engine Systems is looking for an ENGINEER (METALLURGIST) for our Engineer Training Program (ETP). This is an 18-month rotational technical development training program designed to train new engineers in the processes and technologies used in the forging industry and to provide them with cross-functional development experiences within our organization. During this 18-month program, individuals will participate in a total of three assignments lasting six month each. Assignments are cross-functional, and each is based on individual interest, as well as the needs of the organization. At the end of the 18-month ETP Program, engineers will be placed at one of our Howmet locations typically in Process Engineering, Production Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering roles.

    This position is in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Fontana, CA and Rochester, NY.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    The program provides in-depth technical experiences across our business, opening career choices within many different career paths for a select number of high potential engineers.

    The candidates will learn the following in the program:

    Affect change within the business:

    • Ability to take on technical challenges and deal with complexity.
    • Experience cross functional technical development opportunities.
    • Contribute to some of the world's most technologically advanced aerospace systems.
    • Step into a career directed toward becoming a future senior level engineer, technical leader, or business leader of the organization.

    The program provides opportunities to work side by side with an engineering leader/senior level engineer that will act as mentor in each of the assignments working with current customer programs.

    The candidates will complete diverse technical assignments in subjects related to, but not limited to:

    • Forging
    • Conditioning
    • Machining
    • Engineering Support
    • Heat Treatment
    • Equipment Engineering

    The candidate will have the opportunities to improve process control/manufacturing throughput.

    At the conclusion of each rotation, performance and technical contributions are reviewed through a formal Performance Management System and feedback is provided to the candidates.

    At the conclusion of the program, current full-time openings throughout the organization are matched to the interest(s) of the ETP engineer and a transition plan is implemented.

  • Qualifications

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate must possess a record of academic achievement from an accredited university.

    • Minimum of 3.0 GPA.
    • Strong technical/theoretical understanding of engineering principles. This demonstrate their technical path, as well as, being able to apply theory into practical technical setting.
    • Possess the ability to learn quickly and grasp new ideas and concepts.
    • Bachelor's degree in the following academic majors:
      • Material Science Engineering

    Candidate must possess a record of practical industrial/manufacturing experience such as prior internship, co-op, or lab experience. Candidate must be able to relocate during the ETP training time period and must be open for multiple geographical assignments. Candidate must possess a strong career interest in working in a manufacturing/production environment. This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. SKILLS:

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build strong working relationships with others.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or Materials Engineering, from an accredited institution. One year of manufacturing experience is a plus. Experience in Aerospace forging using titanium and/or nickel based super alloys is a plus. Experience in the Aerospace industry is a plus. Experience with Quality systems and specification is a plus.
