Howmet Aerospace, located in Midway, GA, is a heavy industrial manufacturing plant which produces over 60 million pounds of aluminum, titanium, magnesium nickel alloy, and steel forgings. The site produces unique, engineered products in a wide range of configurations, sizes, and tempers for aerospace applications.

Under the direction of an Engineering Manager, this position is responsible for effecting workable solutions to engineering and production problems and solving those problems rapidly and with minimum operational interference. This position does not directly supervise other personnel. The incumbent communicates continually with all levels of personnel in the Maintenance, Planning, Production, Purchasing, Human Resources, Finance, and EHS Departments, as well as with Technical Supervisors and other Engineering & Design Department personnel. Externally, they communicate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This is a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and is not all inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

• Serve as a process steward for the Isothermal forging product line and related sub-processes including heat treatment and machining.
• Partner with the Operations and Maintenance teams to develop and maintain the Isothermal process technology lifecycle plan including capital projects, technology development, and (OEE) improvements.
• Provide guidance and directions to resources within the technical team to meet both internal and external NPI milestones in accordance with the company's financial objectives.
• Work with the process design team to ensure all processes are designed to meet or exceed customer requirements as specified on purchase orders, blueprints, specifications or other related documents.
• Develop, modify, & improve the metallurgical processes associated with isothermal forging in accordance with customer design requirements.
• Perform root cause analysis & implement corrective actions on processes to minimize technical issues utilizing APQP methodology.
• Continuously improve part profitability by implementing process improvements.
• Communicate regularly with internal employees in Manufacturing, Sales, and externally with Customers.
• Perform various department and/or company projects, including planning, organizing data collection, and presentation
• Performing other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with two or more years relevant work experience.
• The ability to manage complex tasks within a dynamic project environment.
• Attention to detail and ability to rapidly respond to project demands and problems.
• Knowledge of basic machining practices.
• Must be proficient with AutoCad, Microsoft Word, Excel and Project.
• Experience with 3D CAD software. Inventor Series 11 or newer .
• Familiar with electrical/mechanical/hydraulic schematics and principles.
