EQUITY DERIVATIVES JAVA DEVELOPER

As a Barclays Equity Derivatives Java Developer, you will be responsible for the development and timely delivery of new and/or existing software working with project managers, software engineers both internal and external to the work stream. The person will also be responsible for interacting with the end users from time to time to understand issues/feedback and incorporate the same in developing solutions.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

• You will be responsible for development and timely delivery of new features and functionalities as well as enhancements to the core systems 

• Participating on the architecture and design decisions

• Focusing on quality of code on a regular basis

• Contributing to the continuous improvement of the processes and the system

• Participating on production support as and when required

• Mentoring and supporting of junior colleagues as and when required

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• Relevant experience in Java software development with strong core Java skills (Java 8, including but not limited to Generics, Collections, Multithreading, I/O, Streams and JDBC)

• Ability to understand complex problems and translate them into solutions respecting OOP fundamentals. Knowledge of enterprise design patterns. Proficiency in writing unit tests

• Proficiency in concepts and technologies supporting Java development/deployment –Spring, Maven, Protocol buffers, RESTful APIs, continuous integration, automated tests

• Team player familiar with Agile development concepts. Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills

SKILLS THAT WILL HELP YOU IN THE ROLE:

• Knowledge of relational databases (ideally Oracle DB)

• Familiarity with messaging platforms such as MQ, Solace or Kafka

• Familiarity with Linux shell and Python scripting

• Knowledge of web front-end development using HTML5 and Angular 6+ or similar
