JUNIOR JAVA DEVELOPER – ALGO TECH

As a Barclays Junior Java Developer – Algo Tech, you will be a key member within Equity Algorithmic Trading Technology located in New York/Whippany.to support applications for QPS and Cash Equities businesses. The Algorithmic Trading applications are built on a Java/C++ platform designed and developed to provide infrastructure services such as market data, analytics, order management, resiliency for the trading algorithms.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

•     Developing both tactical and strategic solutions to meet business requirements

•     Developing automated testing tools to exercise functionality, performance, and capacity of code

•     Providing estimates for tasks, including design, development, technical debt, and testing

•     Supporting analysis, testing, and operations teams

•     Producing code that is appropriate for a low-latency java platform

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

•     Experience with Core Java or C++

•     Proficient with Linux 

•     Experience with multi-threading, memory management, or performance tuning

•     University degree in computer science, physics, engineering, or equivalent programming experience

SKILLS THAT  WILL HELP YOU IN THE ROLE:

•     Experience with development and build tools, ideally: Maven, Gradle, Git, IntelliJ, Eclipse

•     Full lifecycle development of a commercial system, including requirements definition, agile planning, releasing, and production support

•     Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

•     Collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills
