    As a Barclays Senior Platform Engineer, you will build and maintain the Advanced Analytics Platform that combines several tools and technologies which streamlines the model development lifecycle. You will be responsible for streamlining software development, deployment and delivery process enabling self-service platforms for modelling effort. This is an opportunity to build and deliver the Enterprise Data Platforms Advanced Analytics capabilities across a number of hosting platforms such as AWS, Kubernetes, OpenShift and on-premise servers.

    What will you be doing?

    • Working in a fast-paced environment with Quants, technology and architects designing new platform capabilities,, ensuring deliverables comply to Barclays standards & policies
    • Having ownership of data platforms, defects and responsibility to lead engineers and developers, review code and contribute towards software development life cycle
    • Leading service improvement across Analytics platform by identifying existing design flaws and guiding engineering team in remediation and improvements
    • Inspiring confidence by making and honouring commitments, demonstrates initiative and competence
    • Ensuring deliverables comply to Barclays standards and policies (for Security, Data privacy, Accessibility)
    • Developing and prototyping of highly available distributed systems, web application development and framework extensions
    • Being responsible for suggesting new ways forward and coming up with new feature ideas

    What we’re looking for:

    • Experience in data platform engineering, preferably in financial sector
    • Solid understanding of complex enterprise organisational infrastructure and architecture environments
    • Understanding of AWS CloudFormation, Kubernetes, Infrastructure automation skills (Chef)
    • Experience with Core programming languages: Java / Scala or Python

    Skills that will help you in the role:

    • AWS Architecture or Engineering certification
    • Experience with containerization and databricks
    • Exposure to Hadoop Core Concepts
