WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

• On behalf of global financial services firm, design, develop, and test software for financial applications. 
• Work closely with Business Analysts and end-users to understand financial models and prepare high- and low-level software designs. 
• Understand the requirements presented by end-users, create POC’s, and present them to management and end-users. 
• Develop financial models in Python using Pandas, Numpy and Java for advancement analytics and driver-based models. 
• Utilize existing financial models developed in Excel and re-platform the models as Python conda packages using Python based Model Execution Framework. 
• Architect and efficiently re-platform Excel models as Python conda packages. 
• Practice agile development and lead scrum for a small team of developers, fine-tuning model execution performance of varying models. 
• Ensure quality metrics for code are met on a daily basis and troubleshoot/resolve technical issues in financial applications, as necessary. 
• Work with database and data teams in onboarding the model inputs. 
• Develop Rest-based API using Java/Spring boot and generalized model execution environment. 
• Write jobs to process large amount of data using Java/Python on Hadoop cluster, write Spark jobs using Python/Java, and write Spark queries to fetch data from Hadoop data store to performance tune the queries. 
• Performance tune the processes written in Java/Python and provide suggestions or apply fixes. 
• Write multi-threaded code in Python/Java. 
• Assist in root-cause analysis during production issues and participate in model release planning.  
• Supervise junior Java/Python Developer and provide guidance on design, development, and delivery of the models as per the standards. 
• Perform code review to ensure Developers implement the functionality as per requirements. 
• Coordinate with different cross functional teams in releasing the packages to higher environments. 
• Develop tooling and processes to enhance the efficiency of the team. 
• Create the conda build pipeline in CI/CD platform to push the builds to Production environment without any manual intervention.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Requires Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Engineering, Applied Computer Science, or related field and at least seven (7) years of post-baccalaureate progressive experience in role offered, as a Software/Java Developer, Programmer, or related within global financial services. In the alternative, employer will accept a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in stated fields and at least five (5) years of experience in stated occupations. 

Must have two (2) years of experience with: 

• Writing Spark jobs using Java/Python to process Big Data; 
• Developing Rest API using Spring and other frameworks including Spring Boot, Spring framework, Flash and Model Execution Framework; 
• Using Java/Python to write unit test cases for developed code and develop Big Data services; 
• Using Python to convert Excel financial models into conda packages and develop rest services;  
• Using Cloud Computing to migrate databases/applications/service to AWS and to develop and deploy new services on AWS; 
• Using Shell Scripting or Autosys to write scripts and automate processes; and 
• Using Hive, HDFS, Impala, Spark, and PySpark technologies to load data into Big Data platforms, write transformations, actions, and queries to fetch data, and deploy jobs on Big Data clusters.
