    Role Title: US Head of Securities Operations

    Location: Whippany

    What will you be doing

    This is a Regional Head role for the Americas Securities & Asset Services functions. The role is Accountable & Responsible for Service delivery of these functions across all parameters and includes Vendor oversight & management of our Outsourced Service provider in the U.S. The role focusses on Client and Business Service Excellence through disciplined risk management, aligning & managing the Change/Transformation program with Service Delivery for the region, enabling/driving the partnership across Ops and Tech, Regular Client & Business Engagement and adherence to the regulatory framework and delivering on the strategic plans for the function.

    The incumbent will interact regularly with senior leaders in Operations and Technology and the Markets Businesses. The incumbent will also be a key member of the Securities & Asset Services management team, offering the opportunity to influence priorities and management decisions for the function across Operations and Technology.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Regional Head of Securities and Asset Services, leading a team In North America, with oversight & management of the Outsourced Service provider in the region.
    • Ensures functional delivery and service is of the highest standard, whilst meeting agreed SLAs, and adhering to/achieving the parameters on risk, efficiency, budget, Client service and personal conduct.
    • Partnering with the business, the role holder will seek to understand business strategy and align the team while also influencing the other Global Market Operations teams to deliver a “Go-To” experience for clients.
    • Partnering with Clients, Business and other teams to continually improve the client experience.
    • Accountability/engagement in Key strategic programs for the function
    • Ensuring compliance with regulation and delivering on banking reform.
    • Identify and/or deliver the Transformational program for the function
    • Team Management: Develop, Retain and attract top talent and foster a high performance culture in the team
    • Relationship management across Business/Clients and Operations/Technology

    • Demonstrate a structured, outcome-oriented approach, with the ability to anticipate and head off problems that could jeopardize the outcome of functional arameters and/or global programme/ project portfolio.
    • Ability to recognize when a project is challenged vs plan and if required be able to escalate and develop an effective remediation plan
    • Ability to think outside of the box, provide quick solutions and resolve regional/global issues in a timely manner.
    • Aptitude to operate at varying levels of detail (strategic to close attention) and able to prioritise key activities globally.

    Risk and Control Objective

    • Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work you do
    • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards
    • Ability to apply a risk lens with short term (tactical) and long term (strategic) deliverables in mind.
    • Ability to quantify and drive mitigation of risk at a Functional and Portfolio level.
    • Detailed knowledge of financial services industry (including history, trends, future development).
    • Strong background of Securities and Asset Services with experience of leading and managing regional/global teams including Vendors
    • Full understanding of the risk and regulatory environment associated with third party suppliers through the entire lifecycle of engagement
    • Innovation mindset and the ability to drive large scale organisational and technology change in a matrix, collaborative environment.
    • Depth of experience deploying and operating effective change governance which minimizes surprises, draws management attention where needed and provides contextual transparency to functional delivery
    • Expert in change delivery and governance risk management and internal control systems with the ability to lead the governance and control initiatives for the function
    • Has a track record of leading and delivering a strong, values based, citizenship agenda.
    • Deal with high levels of ambiguity and simplify outputs and recommendations in a complex environment
    • Manage complex technology environments and develop and execute major change programmes
    • Deliver client centric and cost effective operational processes
    • Ability to balance commercial, customer and regulatory needs

    Skills that will help you in your role

    • Bachelors Degree or equivalent
    • Financial services experience with in-depth knowledge and understanding of Securities Settlements and Asset Services (US)
