    LOCATION/DIVISION SPECIFIC INFORMATION

    Our Instrument and Enterprise Services team delivers a single source for integrated laboratory instrument service, support and supply management.     LOCATION: REMOTE, NORTH AMERICA

    • Seeking 2 Summer Interns for the IES Division of LPD – one in the West (San Jose CA area) and one in the East (Waltham, MASS)

    • No relocation available

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    The role of the Summer Intern will have 3 major components:

    1. Work side-by-side with Validation and Calibration Engineers in the LPD Division. Interns will learn the business and experience servicing some of our largest customers.

    2. Complete a defined project and present to the leadership team at the completion of the Program. The assigned project will include learning to validate new devices at customer locations and calibrating those devices to IQ, OQ, and PQ. More specifically, the project work will include the important validation of a new electronic documentation tool in support of LPD.

    3. Participate in a Volunteer Project (either remotely or face-to-face)

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Available fulltime (40 hrs/week) for 10-12 weeks.

    • Flexible to travel to customer sites and work remotely, as assigned.

    • Learn the LPD Business of Validation and Calibration Engineering Services

    • Work well with and learn from Engineers as they service the needs of our customers

    • Work on an assigned project to be completed before the end of the Summer Program

    • Participate in a Volunteer Activity (to be determined)

    • Represent the company in a positive, professional manner in all dealings with Thermo Fisher Scientific employees, customers, and representatives. Assures the highest level of customer satisfaction with Thermo Fisher Scientific products and services.

    EDUCATION

    • Must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing an Associate's or Bachelors’ degree in Engineering or related field.

    • Graduating students are eligible only if they are returning to school the following semester to pursue the next level degree.

    • Must be in good academic standing.

    • Must recruit from accredited colleges/universities near existing large customer site(s) as determined by the hiring manager to meet intern project assignment

    EXPERIENCE

    • Customer Service work experience is a plus

    • Engineering and/or IT work experience is a plus

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

    • Self-starter with a strong desire to learn

    • Self-directed with a passion to deliver an outstanding customer experience

    • Is curious, inquisitive, and innovative with excellent problem-solving skills

    • Ability to manage time to both learn and complete project(s) prior to the end of the Summer Intern Program

    • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication

    • Ability to identify specific problems, determine desired end-result, and the vital tasks needed to solve the problems
