    Job Description

    SUMMARY:

    Coordinates activities of incoming and outgoing shipments. Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas. Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. Creates Bill of Ladings & Custom Paperwork as well as UPS/Fed Ex label printing and application. Maintaining and submitting Advanced Shipping Notifications (ASN). Examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, and records shortages. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications. Calling in daily pickups or scheduling pickup and delivery online as required by customer or carrier. Assist in performing all warehouse functions such as order picking, packing, stocking, receiving, shipping. Handles materials in a safe and timely manner using a forklift/tow motor.   Moving materials and products to and from the work areas of pre-determined warehouse locations.

    PRIMARY SHIPPING CLERK RESPONSIBILITIES

    ·       Calling in shipments

    ·       Maintain shipping document inventory

    ·       Packing slips and Pro Numbers on freight as required

    ·       Creating Bill of Ladings

    ·       Creating Custom Paperwork

    ·       UPS/Fed Ex

    ·       Sending ASN’s

    ·       Receives Purchase Orders in system

    ·       Dock organization

    ·       Other duties as assigned

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

    ·       General computer knowledge is required

    ·       High attention to detail and organizational skills

    ·       Knowledge and understanding of all warehouse operations

    ·       Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner

    ·       Must facilitate good working relationships with all team members, co-workers and management

    ·       Ability to work as a team in accomplishing tasks

    ·       Provide a high level of assistance to customers, drivers, vendors and coworkers

    ·       Possess good listening skills

    ·       Ability to perform repetitive tasks

    ·       Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

    ·       Strong written and verbal communication skills

    ·       Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    ·       Performance of this job requires physical dexterity, Hi-Lo certification (both sit down and reach fork), and the ability to follow instructions when needed.

     

    Personnel must be able to communicate with all levels within the company ranging from customers and management. Performance to comply with all company Procedures, Policies, Work Instructions, knowledge of internal and external requirements.

    From time to time, personnel may be assigned other duties for the purpose of training, additional assistance or for other reasons as deemed necessary by Management.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE                                                                               High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and Four years of inbound/outbound dock experience preferred including bill of lading and custom paperwork experience.  Previous experience with the use of bar-coding equipment. Microsoft skills required.

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Hi/Lo, Tow Motor, Cherry Picker and Forklift Certification Preferred.
