Primary Function We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern for Summer Semester 2019 to work with our Mission Solutions group. This position is located in Columbus, Ohio Major Responsibilities The candidate will support engineering projects that involve design, analysis, testing, and fabrication of mechanical and electro-mechanical components and systems for use in ocean and other challenging environments. Product areas include sensor packaging, underwater vehicle payloads and support equipment, and underwater energy and communications systems. The candidate will typically work on teams with CAD designers, engineers, scientists, fabricators, and technicians in a multi-disciplinary environment under time and budget restrictions to deliver specialized equipment for a variety of customers. The successful candidate will execute tasks and be required to report on their status. Travel may be required. Position Requirements Currently pursuing a bachelors degree in an accredited Ocean or Mechanical Engineering program, or an equivalent discipline. At least two years of coursework completed Minimum 3.0 GPA Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. U.S. citizenship is required, with the eligibility to obtain and maintain required government security clearance THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION: Experience with design, analysis, testing, and fabrication of mechanical and electro-mechanical components and systems. Experience with engineering drawings, assembling or maintaining mechanical equipment, machining or other fabrication experience. Experience with the operation of equipment in a maritime environment.
