SUMMARY OF INTERNSHIP
The Business Intelligence Internship position provides an opportunity for students who are currently pursuing a business, business technology, statistics or analytics-like degree to get hands on experience working with Operations functions and a variety of BI tools in a fast-paced business and environment. The BI intern will contribute to reporting and analytical BI projects, developing reporting and analytical dashboards to provide visibility into Key Performance Indicators to help drive root cause and counter measures.
THE POSITION STARTS IN MAY OR JUNE, PAID WORKING 40 HOURS PER WEEK THROUGH AUGUST. Opportunity exists for this position to continue through the academic year on a part-time basis to allow for class schedules.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Support the business in the Business Intelligence area
Knowledge gathering/analysis, planning, documenting, and transforming the business requirements into technical & functional specifications for the creation of reports and dashboards.
Engage and partner with the IT organization and its teams as a solution provider in the data warehousing, data analytics, and business intelligence areas
Create dashboards/reports using Cognos, PowerBI, and Excel
Accept candid feedback and look for areas of improvement
Specific tasks will be tailored to experience level and abilities
Works under the close supervision of other team members, data analysts, and Sr. BI analysts

Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-functional team
Willingness to learn, be mentored, and improve
Desire to contribute and improve design of new and existing reports and dashboards
Exceptional customer focus
Desire to teach other team members and colleagues about technology in area of expertise
Familiarity with various Microsoft Office 365 tools, including Power BI or other visualization tools
Proficient and adept at Excel
Familiarity with database queries
Aptitude for quickly learning new technology and software with ability to apply its use
Solid communication skills, with ability and confidence to present to an audience of varied leadership levels
QUALIFICATIONS
Student currently enrolled in classes leading to an accredited degree in a Business, Computer Science, Operations, Supply Chain or Statistics related discipline
General biology / chemistry or greater science knowledge preferred
