    Summary of Internship

    The Business Intelligence (Software Development) Internship position provides an opportunity for engineering students who are currently pursuing a computer science, computer engineering, or like engineering degree to get hands on experience working with engineers in a fast-paced software design and development in a Business Intelligence environment. The BI intern will contribute to development projects and advance best design practices in Data Warehouse and Data Lake environment. The position starts in May or June, paid working 40 hours per week through August. Opportunity exists for this position to continue through the academic year on a part-time basis to allow for class schedules. Essential Functions

    • Participate in Data Warehouse and Data Lake project meetings be part of technical discussions (requirements, design and development)
    • Develop technical data mapping documents (using excel)
    • Work closely with developers to see progress
    • Learn Informatica, Databricks, Python and Cognos tools
    • Be able to write SQL queries to be see data from the tables and validate
    • Be able to use Cognos to validate data
    • Learn and develop Power BI dashboards
    • Create Powerpoint and other documents
  • Qualifications
    • Student currently enrolled in classes leading to a ABET accredited degree in a software or computer related engineering discipline
    • Computer science or computer engineering, or like engineering field

    • Familiar with Database concepts (Oracle or MS SQL) and proficient in writing SQL queries
    • Familiarity with Data Warehousing - Nice to have
    • Familiar with ETL Tools (Informatica) - Nice to have
    • Hands on coding experience with Python and other programming languages.
    • Ability to work independently and as a member of a cross-functional team
    • Strong willingness to learn, be mentored, and improve
    • Desire to contribute and improve design of new and existing data warehouse extracts
