    Job Description

    Thermo Fisher Scientific is currently recruiting for an Engineering Intern based in the South San Francisco office, which is one of Thermo Fisher Scientific's manufacturing centers of excellence for Next Generation Sequencing.

    Your work will support the Sensor Chip Product Engineering team in the development of sensors for the Clinical Sequencing Division.

    The Product and Test Chip team looks for a proactive intern with strong experience in database architecture, design and debugging. The intern will build and maintain databases for data to be analyzed by diverse groups within the company. The intern will also be involved in crafting a web-page interface for data visualization.

    This internship position provides an opportunity for an engineering student to get hands on experience working with engineers and scientists in a fast-paced R&D environment. The intern will collaborate with team members locally and in Taiwan, from multiple groups within the overall Sensor Development team.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Support the product and test team in developing and maintaining databases that contain manufacturing data from different production tools.

    • Generate web-page solutions for data retrieves and data visualization for both production and characterization data.

    • Work with different teams within the company to continuously improve database content, data quality and speeds.

    Qualifications/Experience:

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Engineering, Data Science or Genetics

    • Proficiency in computer languages such as Python, Django, SQL and Unix

    • Good understanding of statistics and data analysis.

    Skills and Abilities:

    • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-functional team.

    • Strong willingness to learn, be mentored and improve
