    Seasonal Lab Internship (Roselle, IL) Roselle, IL, USA 13.00 Hourly Internship The Laboratory Interns are responsible for defining the distribution and density of target mosquito species in relation to human populations; efforts will determine the scheduling of treatments in order to control the nuisance and/or disease vectors. Shift: Monday - Friday; 7:00am - 3:30pm Some Saturdays may be required Pay: $13.00 per hour Job Duties and Responsibilities: Set mosquito traps to collect adult samples Identify to genus and species all larval and/or adult samples brought to the lab by field technicians Perform virus testing on adult mosquito samples Assist the Lab Director with the inventory of all lab and field supplies and with the supervision of Light Trap Runners Assist the Lab Director with the supervision of field technicians Complete special research projects and/or field work as needed Document and communicate daily work activity to ensure completion Make sure safe work practices and procedures are followed at all time Successful Candidate Must: To be considered, applicants must be currently enrolled and have achieved junior or senior standing and/or have recently graduated from an accredited University or College Major area of study must be Biology, Entomology, or Environmental Science In many cases this position may be used for internship credit Previous experience working or studying in a laboratory environment strongly preferred. Be 18 years of age or older Communicate effectively in English in both written and verbal forms Have a valid Driver's License with an excellent driving record Ability to sit and drive a vehicle for extended periods of time as well as walk extensively Required to pass the Illinois Department of Agriculture General Standards Exam (training provided) Capable of using handheld technical devices including, but not limited to, smartphones, GPS, and system applications Candidate must be comfortable performing assigned duties of this job indoors in a lab, which is an office environment This position may also require some field work which may include walking through various and challenging terrain including but not limited to water, heavy vegetation and uneven land throughout various residential communities, urban environments and traffic patterns where environmental conditions are affected by weather Clarke is a privately held public health, global environmental products and services company.
