  • Responsibilities

    The co-op will support the late stage assay development, assay establishment, and process characterization for viral vector-based therapeutics for cell and gene therapies. This position is laboratory based and requires the candidate to be eager to learn and be hands-on. The co-op will function with direct supervision from Process Sciences (PS) Analytics scientists and will be actively engaged in development and transfer of cell and gene therapy products.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Support development, validation and execution of a variety of analytical methods including, but not limited to, real time PCR (vg titer, residual DNA), digital droplet PCR, ELISA (capsid titer and residual protein), plaque assay, TCID50 (infectious titer), replication competent virus assay, agarose gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, immunoblotting, immunocytochemistry, infectivity, etc.
    • Execute PS Analytics assay transfer and establishment and testing for process characterization runs, ensuring documentation is followed and completed real time.
    • Maintain an accurate schedule/project plan of assigned PS Analytics lab work and deliverables.
  • Qualifications
    • Completed at least 3 semesters of undergraduate studies and had at least one laboratory course in any of the following: Chemical Engineering, Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or Biochemistry. Laboratory experience preferred.
    • Strong interpersonal and communications skills; written and oral. Ability to be hands-on and a desire to learn
    • Ability to function in a fast-paced dynamic team environment and balance prioritize multiple projects

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/FACTORS:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

    • Ability to function in a rapidly changing environment & handle multiple priorities.
    • Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Requires overtime to work evenings, weekends or holidays, as required to meet project timelines.
    • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
