    EMPLOYEE BACKGROUND CHECK REQUIRED

    Under close supervision, performs on-the-job assignments of limited scope and complexity related to one or more functions in the areas of Information Technologies (Systems/Software/Network/Web), Environmental/Chemical Science, Engineering, Programming, etc. Tasks may vary according to skill set and Company/program/project prioritization and needs. Very limited to no direct client contact. Error in work or actions is limited to immediate project or work group, usually corrected during quality control.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Applies policies, procedures, technical principles and authority set forth in applicable manuals, regulations and other directives when completing tasks.

    2. Conducts a variety of research using various sources in support of Company projects and presents results in written or verbal format, as requested. Prepares technical and data reports, support aids, routine correspondence, and standardized documents as requested.

    3. May assist in the development and maintenance of advanced databases that track and analyze data, test samples and/or data structures in support of contract efforts and to enhance operating efficiency.

    4. May assist technical staff with laboratory operations, analyzing data, maintaining inventory and equipment, and testing and/or manufacturing processes and activities.

    5. May provide technical assistance in design, engineering, implementation, installation and support of desktop, hardware, software, applications, network, server and related services to ensure maximum up-time and optimal performance based on customer/contract requirements.

    6. May assist with the development and maintenance of Web-based applications including graphical user interfaces, web database connectivity and website revisions.

    7. May perform a variety of routine clerical tasks such as sorting, coding, filing in support of program/project management and proposal activity to enhance operating efficiency.

    8. Prepares summary presentations that highlight accomplishments, achievements and lessons learned during the internship as requested.

    PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

    1. Regularly or frequently sitting, talking, hearing, grasping, touching, walking, reaching with hands/arms and performing repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movements.

    2. Sedentary to light work exerting 10 to 30 pounds of force.

    3. Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less, three-dimensional vision, ability to identify and distinguish colors, and ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus to review test results, read technical manuals, calibration of machines and equipment, adjust equipment, use measuring devices, microscopes, use computer, install software, read and perform routine computer maintenance and design website graphics and content.

    4. Frequent attention and application of principles of logical or scientific thinking and reasoning to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and/or support customer needs while dealing with interruptions and distractions.

    5. Apply reasoning to solve practical problems and to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.

    6. Basic math, language, writing and reading skills.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    1. Moderate noise level (i.e. computers, printers, etc.).

    2. Indoor, temperature controlled office environment. May work near fumes or airborne particles, with toxic or caustic chemicals or near moving mechanical parts.

    Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

    1. Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in a technical, science, engineering or similar field, entering, or currently in, their Senior year.

    2. Knowledge and use of computer, engineering, laboratory and/or safety equipment.

    3. Knowledge of PC hardware, cabling requirements, programming languages and/or automated diagnostic tools for network troubleshooting.

    4. Familiar with responsibilities involving research using on- and off-line resources.

    5. Ability to lift boxes containing PC's and peripheral equipment up to 30 lbs.

    6. Good oral and written communication skills.
