The Clinical Operations & Business Analyst position is a dual role position reporting to the Clinical Operations and Business Analytics team, overseeing Analytics and the Departments of Finance and HR, managing the financial project portfolio. The convergence of these two areas into one provides DFCI with a unique advantage structurally aligning two areas that act as strategic insights and enablers. This position in addition provides consistency between Financial analytics and Operations and Clinical analytics. The COBA- Financial/HR Analyst must develop an in-depth understanding of our data and data structures as well as the ability to translate specifications into programming logic, and create visualizations and reports. The analyst will be expected to take the lead on new projects, function independently within a fast-paced environment, work on several different projects/tasks concurrently and serve as a data advisor to Finance/HR and COBA team as new projects or ad hoc reports are collaboratively being developed. Assignments will include complex data analysis projects that can be multi-disciplinary or interdepartmental. The analyst will also collaborate with the Data Management team to address data requirements for analytic reporting. The analyst will work with a variety of tools (ex: SAS, SQL, Excel, Oracle, Tableau etc) to access data, write queries, develop programming logic, run reports, manipulate, and analyze large datasets to meet the needs of institute. Responsibilities Write and develops and delivers timely and accurate HR scorecards, dashboards, and reports that are aligned with business requirements and summarize important points. Utilizes technology and analytical tools to analyze and report on key metrics and trends in all areas of human resources. Conducts data gathering and needs assessment on an ongoing basis to provide quantitative analysis that produces actionable insights for the business; provides timely updates to reports and scorecards in support of organizational changes. Provides reports and analyses in response to ad hoc requests and communicates findings to appropriate stakeholders. Communicates analyses and insights to leaders by summarizing conclusions, translating analytics into clear, understandable themes, and identifying analytic results that drive actionable insights. Serves as an internal resource to train company leaders regarding the use of workforce data and analytics via existing technology and self-service tools. Understands the Companys strategic and operating plans as they relate to management of the workforce. Recommends, develops and implements metrics and reporting to measure HR program effectiveness. Partners with HRIS to create and maintain data to support HR analytics needs and to ensure integrity and consistency of reporting. Support ongoing strategic initiatives that impact Dana-Farber programs with Brigham and Womens Hospital, Boston Childrens Hospital, Dana-Farber Satellite Centers, and Dana-Farber Community Cancer Care practices. Provide analytic and process implementation support for cross-functional initiatives relating to the electronic medical record and revenue cycle systems. Immediately bring to the attention of COBA Lead issues, concerns and problems which may hinder achievement of deadlines and or/ accomplishments of responsibilities Perform other similar and related duties as required or directed Qualifications Bachelors or Masters degree or equivalent in Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics or related field Minimum of one to three years of related work experience in healthcare industry or Masters in Bioinformatics, Epidemiology or Computer Science Must be able to function independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities Must have superior interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work and communicate with all levels of internal and external staff Requires superior computer skills, i.e. MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word and data mining techniques. Extensive experience with a business intelligence tools, such as Tableau Programming abilities and/or statistical software skills are required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Technical Skills: Knowledge of data storage platforms including Microsoft SQL, Excel, Access is required. Experience in SQL server, MySQL or Oracle to be able to use relational databases across Dana-Farber and program independently in at least one system. Comfortable with manipulating data, extracting desired information perform data analysis and troubleshoot data integrity issues. Prior experience of business intelligence tools, such as Tableau, Microstrategy, etc. Hands-on experience in Tableau Desktop to perform tableau design, development and process documentation to produce required reporting, analytics, and visualization deliverables Communicate with internal clients to develop and translate a business requirement into an effective and insightful interactive analytical dashboard Quickly and effectively diagnose and respond to service desk requests regarding data integrity and functional or interactive issues in existing and future dashboard Promote and contribute to the overall strategy and vision of Tableau design and development practices at the institute Proven experience in statistical analysis is preferred in at least one programming language including SAS, R, Stata or other Excellent knowledge of this language programming and associated features and experience in their applications to clinical or operational data is a must. Develop coding and table templates for preparing, processing and analyzing data. Comfortable learning new software tools Competent with additional Microsoft Office suite software (e.g. , Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio...)
