    Summary of Internship

    The Data Solutions & Business Intelligence internship position provides an opportunity for data science students who are currently pursuing a data science, data analytics, computer engineering, or like engineering degree to get hands on experience working with team of data analyst, data engineers in a fast-paced bi analytics and data lake environment. The data science intern will contribute to development projects, pilots and advance best design practices. The position starts in June, paid working 40 hours per week through August. Opportunity exists for this position to continue through the academic year on a part-time basis to allow for class schedules.

    Essential Functions

    • Provide data science support related to data analytics, data lake projects including prototyping, testing, and design

    • Support a variety of discovery activities and may be assigned to a variety of pilot tasks throughout the department

    • Be involved with many aspects of machine learning, data acquisition, visualization, and some design and analysis tasks

    • Provide feedback on specifications and designs

    • Accept candid feedback and look for areas of improvements

    • Specific tasks will be tailored to the data science interns experience level and abilities

    • A data science intern works under the close supervision of data analysts, project managers, and data engineers

    • Attending an accredited University studying toward a Master’s of Science degree in Computer Science, Statistics or equivalent

    • Data Science, Data Analytics, Computer science or computer engineering, or like engineering field

    • Exposure to AWS Lambda, AWS S3, Kafka, Redshift, Sage Maker

    • Have experience in databases, analytics, big data systems or business intelligence products (Tableau, PowerBI)

    • Aptitude for writing machine learning algorithms
