    SUMMARY OF CO-OP

    The Digital Engineering IT Automation Software Development Co-op position provides an opportunity for engineering students who are currently pursuing a computer science, computer engineering, or like engineering degree to get hands on experience working with software developers in a fast-paced environment.  THE POSITION STARTS IN JULY, PAID WORKING 40 HOURS PER WEEK THROUGH DECEMBER.  We are looking for talents who are creative to tackle complicated problems and willing to take technical challenges

    WHAT ARE THE EXCITING THINGS WILL YOU BE WORKING ON?

    • Write and deploy Machine Learning applications for system monitoring, stability/failure prediction to enable AIOps for enterprise applications. This will greatly enhance the IT Operations functions with proactive and dynamic insights to Improve the system reliability.
    • Develop cloud automation portal and assessment tool solutions to support Thermo Fisher’s large-scale cloud migration program to achieve significant cost and time savings through automating repetitive tasks and enforcing guardrails and standards. The cloud migration program will benefit Thermo Fisher’s business and customers by delivering reliable, secure, scalable and high-performance infrastructure services leveraging the power of cloud.
    • Learn and utilize today’s leading automation software to discover deployments within AWS and build a topology and landscape using automated approach. This is going to drive efficiency, improve productivity and provide transparency whenever new applications are deployed and saves time to update the topology.
    • Develop innovative service response automation tools to connect chat and emails from various enterprise applications. This will greatly improve the experience to Thermo Fisher customers globally by enabling faster delivery of new innovated products and IT capabilities.

  • Qualifications
    • Full-time student pursuing a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or similar field
    • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.

    • Good programming skills on Java or Python
    • Excellent data analysis skills
    • Familiarity with working in Linux and Windows environment
    • Some exposures to web development
    • Aptitude for writing software programs
    • Basic knowledge on Java framework is preferred
    • Good knowledge on relational database (Oracle or SQL Server) or non SQL database (MongoDB or AWS DynamoDB) is a plus
    • Knowledge on machine learning, artificial intelligence and big data analysis is a plus
    • Knowledge on networking, Amazon/Microsoft/Google cloud is a plus
