    Summary of Internship

    The Digital Services Internship position provides an opportunity for students who are currently pursuing a data science, computer science, systems science, or like degree to get hands-on experience working on emerging innovation projects and contributing to new methods for providing support to laboratory customers. The intern will contribute to fast-paced data analytics and service operations environment. The position starts in June, paid working 40 hours per week through August. Opportunity exists for this position to continue through the academic year on a part-time basis to allow for class schedules.

    Essential Functions

    • Provide data management and process analysis support related to enhancing our technical services data science pipeline
    • Support a variety of data management activities including identifying, collecting, and assembling relevant data from disparate sources (internal and external)
    • Contribute to process improvements to our Internet of Things (IoT) systems, enterprise software platforms, and instrumentation pipeline
    • Be involved with many aspects of the company’s remote service and support infrastructure
    • Provide feedback on designs, development and pilot strategy
    • Accept candid feedback and look for areas of improvement
    • Specific tasks will be tailored to the interns experience level and abilities
    • An intern works under the close supervision of product managers, project managers, and software engineering managers

    Skills and Abilities

    • Familiarity with of least one programming tool set such as Java, Pythion, C#, C++
    • Interest in data architectures and optimizing processes
    • Ability to work independently and as a member of a cross-functional team
    • Willingness to learn, be mentored, and improve
    • Desire to contribute and improve design of new and existing scientific instrumentation products
    • Exceptional customer focus
    • Desire to teach others about technology in your area of expertise

    • Student currently enrolled in classes leading to a degree in a science, math, engineering, or computer-related disciplines
    • General biology, chemistry, electronics or greater science knowledge preferred
