POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides in-house Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) direction, support and guidance to North American (NA) facilities. Ensures sites comply with applicable EH&S regulations as well as Corporate EH&S policies. A member of the Drug Product Division - North American Business Unit Leadership Team (NALT).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides direction, guidance and support to the North American DPD network
Conducts audits of North American sites to identify best practices and opportunities for improvement.
Identifies industry (including regulatory) changes that affect North American operations and assists to develop and implement plans to meet compliance requirements.
Leads North American sites to streamline EH&S programs and tools.
Member of the North American Leadership Team (NALT) Business Unit.
Establishes Patheon’s strong EH&S position by networking, participating on industry / EHS committees and by presenting at conferences and schools.
Provides NALT with guidance on EH&S issues (as required).
Provides resources and assistance to sites (as required).
Leads an area of the PSG Environment, Health and Safety function such as: Risk Management, Global High Potency Program, Contractor Management etc (To Be Determined based on experience and skills)
Serves as subject matter expert within PSG
Provides support as needed to the Global PSG EHS function and to Thermo Fisher Scientific Corporate EHS Team. Selects, develops and evaluates staff to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Works with and advises staff on administrative policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
B.Sc. in Environmental Science, Life Sciences, Natural Sciences, or related discipline. Masters degree (preferred)
EH&S Certificate or Diploma preferred
Professional designation in Health & Safety such as Certified Industrial Hygienst, Registered Occupational Hygienst, Certified Safety Professional, Canadian Registered Safety Professional
10 or more years of previous Environment, Health and Safety experience in an industrial or related environment.
5 years or more of pharmaceutical industry experience or similar regulated environments.
EQUIVALENCY: Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
COMPETENCIES:
Proven people management experience (minimum 5 yrs managing direct reports). Demonstrated success in high potency containment. Well versed in provincial, state and federal health,safety and environmental legislation. Proven ability to coach and develop staff as well as the technical ability to coordinate departmental business activities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to motivate and lead. Ability to travel between sites as required to provide support (perhaps on a weekly basis working at multiple locations). Well organized and detail oriented. Excellent computer and database skills. Excellent presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Demonstrated commitment to our fundamental principles of Integrity, Intensity, Innovation and Involvement. Proficiency with the English Language.
