We are seeking a Director of Marketing to lead a Division marketing team that will transform how we engage with customers in the life science community. Reflecting the voice of the customer, this role is responsible for crafting and leading balanced market leadership developing and delivering novel customer experiences that will both delight our customers and change our personalized marketing initiatives for the Bioscience Division (BID) of Thermo Fisher Scientific. The Director of Marketing will lead a team of marketing professionals responsible for the go-to-market strategy, development, execution and results across all channels for cross-business unit and solution-based customer programs including our loyalty program. This leader will also drive the marketing efficiency and the marketing proficiencies programs for all of BID marketing to harmonize the campaign results and develop our talent in the marketing organization. The position reports to the Vice President of Marketing BID and joins the Marketing Leadership team working closely with business and functional leaders, within the division and across the wider organization. To be successful, this professional should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment at a global level and collaborating with large cross-functional teams across the organization. WHAT WILL YOU DO?

    • Be a steward of our brand.
    • Lead a team of marketing professionals responsible for the go-to-market strategy, tactical implementation, asset/content development, ongoing management and performance measurement of BIDs overarching solution-based campaigns organization.
    • Mentors team to develop and execute engaging, results-oriented tactical marketing plans for new or existing cross-BID customer programs.
    • Delivers a harmonized marketing efficiency program to standardize marketing important metric measurement and reporting across the division.
    • Drives the development and execution of the marketing proficiencies program to increase the marketing acuity for the BID marketing organization.
    • Engages with executive and senior level managers across and within the division to ensure alignment with the division, business unit and marketing strategies.
    • Leads the BID campaign goals and objectives, and reviews and revises programs to improve member adoption and program utilization.
    • Accountable to achieve important metric targets as mutually established with the business and regularly reports to Executive and Senior Management on target performance
    • Align with global functions to ensure consistency with brand profiles and company standards.
    • Harmonise with varying levels of internal and external personnel including direct customer communication, public presentation, and a team-focused approach.
    • Work closely with regional marketing development managers to build and execute marketing programs within their regions.
    • Coordinate with global marketing to ensure visibility, openness and alignment, as well as sharing of standard methodologies to improve success.
    • Act as a consultant and advocate for the business perspective on global marketing initiatives
    • Lead cross marketing team critical special projects (for example branding or sales training optimization) with high openness across the company.

    HOW WILL YOU GET HERE? EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business required. Background in Biology, Biochemistry or related field is a plus. M.B.A. preferred

    EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

    • At least 10 years in a marketing role that includes validated experience efficiently implementing marketing plans across channels. Loyalty program experience is a plus.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business required. Background in Biology, Biochemistry or related field is a plus. M.B.A. preferred
    • Proficiency in knowledge and leadership in the following key proficiencies: 4Ps and marketing mix, marketing communication, communication channels, customer segmentation, value proposition and marketing program development and execution.
    • Efficiency in this role requires excellent listening skills, the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing, and a general knowledge of operating plans as well as industry practices for promoting and selling similar products.
    • Strong professional networks and the ability to influence without authority are required.
    • Persuasive communication across a diverse group of partners and presentation acuity, as well as analysis and reporting of results are required.
    • Strong marketing demeanor and customer focus are crucial.
    • Validated ability to work across divisions and with consulting agencies to seek business improvement problems
    • Experience with hiring and leading a team of marketing professionals and in the planning, executing, and supervising large marketing projects and budgets
