If you're an intellectually curious and driven student, with a passion for science, in an undergraduate or graduate HCI, Interaction Design or other UX design program looking for a rewarding internship to build your portfolio, we should talk. We're looking for interns to join our small UX team. Over the course of the program, you will sit with the teams and work side by side with designers, researchers, product managers and the rest of the DNAnexus team. You will have the opportunity to craft a project with us that leverages your unique expertise and helps further your learning of the UX field. This could range from helping build our UI library, to designing data visualizations, to building prototypes of new features or products! Qualified applicants will be currently enrolled college or graduate students in human-computer interaction, interaction design, visual design, cognitive psychology, user research or other related field. Ideal candidates will have an interest in science (biology, genetics, bioinformatics), medicine or healthcare and have taken related coursework. During your studies you have acquired excellent analytical, problem solving, interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication, presentation skills and are fluent with design tools such as Sketch, Adobe or prototyping tools. Requirements: - Solid understanding of the user-centered design process - Design portfolio - Proficient in some of the following: Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, Web prototyping tools, Data Viz tools - Understanding of front-end development and Agile process - Strong communication skills - A curiosity and passion for crafting amazing experiences - An ability to dive into the details but also be able to step back and see the bigger picture - An ability to work independently in an ambiguous environment - Ability to grasp scientific concepts related to biology and genetics Based in Mountain View, California, DNAnexus is experiencing rapid growth and is searching for the best talent to join our team.
