    We are seeking a passionate Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join a multi-disciplinary, collaborative EHS Team. We need someone who is passionate about protecting people and the environment, able to work collaboratively, able to find creative solutions, and interested in understanding pharmaceutical manufacturing and development.     • Being actively engaged with employees on the manufacturing floor
    • Improving and deploying EHS programs and tools
    • Along with area operations leadership, driving cultural change
    • Modifying/developing and presenting engaging, hands-on EHS Training
    • Determining root causes and corrective/preventative action plans for environmental or safety incidents
    • Working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, quality and area leadership to support revenue, profitability, price, margin, customer satisfaction, and growth goals
    • Collaborate with EHS personnel from other locations to share best practices and leverage knowledge
    • Support area safety teams as a technical resource
    • Perform other related duties as required and/or assigned

    NATURE AND SCOPE

    The EHS specialist will be a member of an experienced, inter-disciplinary EHS team. Each team member is the primary contact for EHS efforts in one or more business areas (e.g., manufacturing, packaging, labs, development and/or facilities, etc.). The specialist will interact and support all levels of personnel in his/her supported area. This support will include addressing EHS concerns/questions, facilitating EHS corrective actions, performing risk assessments using a standardized template, conducting training, supporting area EHS team meetings, attending daily job board meetings, and participating on investigation teams. The facility operates 24 hrs per day, 6 days per week. This is a M-F, days position, however, supporting the assigned area(s) will require occasional work outside regular hours.

    Each team member owns multiple EHS processes (e.g., lockout/tagout, air emissions, working at heights, contractor safety, confined space entry, lab safety, hazardous waste, wastewater, and/or sustainability, etc.). Assignment of the programs is done collaboratively with the team, based on skill set and interest. The process owner is responsible for the written programs, training development, and evaluation of program effectiveness.

    EDUCATION

    • Bachelor’s degree in an EHS discipline (e.g., environmental science, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, environmental health, etc) or a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • An understanding of the environmental, health and safety technical principles
    • Languages: English (fluent), including verbal and written communication
    • Proficient in understanding, analyzing and summarizing EHS data
    • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication (verbal and written) skills
    • A team player with a bias for action and driving projects to fruition
    • An ability to guide others to the right solution
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Is people-centric and able to work with and influence people at all levels of the organization
    • Ability to flex work schedule, with notice, up to 15% of the time

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • 0-2 years of relevant experience • Hands-on EHS experience in a manufacturing environment • Pharmaceutical experience
