  • Responsibilities

    SUMMARY:

    Provides Environmental Heath and Safety (EH&S) support to the team, Operations and Pharmaceutical Development Services (PDS) within an early development pharmaceutical environment.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Specific duties will vary with availability, requirements and priorities. Provides EH&S support to the department as well as GMP Manufacturing, Formulation Process Development (FPD), Project Management (PM) and the Quality Control & Early Development /Analytical Development Laboratories.

    • Incident investigations
    • Client & auditor support
    • Employee records & databases
    • Toxicology report record keeping
    • Success Factors
    • Material Safety Data Sheet management

    Coordinates Respiratory Protection Program

    • Orders safety supplies as needed for the site
    • New Employee orientation safety training
    • Employee training on use, cleaning and maintenance of respirators
    • Employee Respirator Fit Testing
    • Assists Employees and Supervisors with PPE issues
    • Assists in selection and use of respiratory protection, protective clothing, hearing protection and safety glasses

    Develops and conducts EH&S training

    • Orientation training
    • Monthly safety talks
    • Department specific training
    • Maintains employee training records

    Joint Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Safety Committee support

    • Attends meetings
    • Safety Committee & ERT minutes
    • Coordinates and participates in workplace safety inspections
    • Tracks completion of items

    Supports site EH&S Key Performance Indicators

    • Tracking systems for metrics
    • Safety culture and environment visibility boards

    Completes and/or assists in special EH&S projects and provides guidance, back-up and support to other EH&S team members. Assist’s with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) site regulatory requirements and record keeping. Other duties as assigned

  • Qualifications

    EDUCATION:

    High School Diploma required; Currently enrolled and pursuing a BS in Physical Science.

    EXPERIENCE:

    No previous experience required.

    EQUIVALENCY:__

    Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

    COMPETENCIES:

    Able to work in a fast-paced team environment. Previous experience conducting presentations / training. High integrity for dealing with confidential information. Demonstrated professionalism. Excellent interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Demonstrated commitment to our fundamental principles of Integrity, Respect and Excellence. Proficiency with the English language.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Light physical effort and fatigue. Walks, sits or stands for limited periods. May require occasional equipment operation including keyboard equipment. Lifts light items for limited duration. Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
