    LOCATION/DIVISION SPECIFIC INFORMATION

    This position is remote and will require working at customer sites in the Kansas City area and surrounding states. On average, the candidate will travel 1-2 days per week to locations outside of the Kansas City area.

    As a new Field Service Apprentice, you will perform various instrument service processes and procedures including troubleshooting issues, implementing repairs and completing preventive maintenance to drive customer satisfaction and ensure proper functionality of medical and laboratory instrumentation.

    WHAT WILL YOU DO?

In this role, the Field Service Apprentice will respond to service calls to evaluate, diagnose, perform repair and planned maintenance (PM) on complex laboratory instrumentation and equipment to drive customer satisfaction through Service Excellence.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Under supervision, the selected Apprentice will evaluate basic customer equipment issues, implement appropriate repairs; as assigned, perform planned maintenance (PM), inspections and maintain effective customer relations.
    • Maintain daily communications with customers as directed, to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to customer satisfaction.
    • Will assist engineers on progressive repairs and resolution. Work as a member of team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within assigned area.
    • Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule. Maintain approved parts inventory.
    • Ensure proper care of spares, tools and test equipment and ensure calibration. Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment formal instruction.
    • Meet Environment Health and Safety requirements.
  • Qualifications

    HOW WILL YOU GET HERE?

    EDUCATION:

    • Associates Degree in Electronics or Engineering or equivalent education/experience

    • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

      • Accredited trade school certification HVAC/R (EPA Certification) or Electronic Technician preferred
      • Computer networking, Microsoft A+ certification preferred
      • IT and networking experience a plus
    • Strong electronic/electrical and mechanical background preferred, refrigeration experience a plus.

    • Aptitude in troubleshooting, test, repairs and servicing technical equipment, with advanced knowledge working with basic test equipment such as DMM, tachometer, temperature devices, etc.

    • Effective communication skills, self-motivated, collaborative and ability to work independently.

    • Ability to lift 50 lbs. with assistance and carry 25-30 lbs. throughout the day.

    • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

    • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.

    • Travel up to 75% to include driving frequently within territory and overnight travel, as necessary.

    Special Considerations:

    • Local candidates strongly preferred.
    • Relocation may be necessary at a future date.
