INTERNSHIP SUMMARY

As a Field Services Intern, you will accompany Field Services employees in the performance of various instrument service processes and procedures including troubleshooting issues, implementing repairs and completing preventive maintenance to drive customer satisfaction and ensure accurate functionality of medical and laboratory instrumentation. You will also participate in projects that investigate Field Services processes and procedures to drive improvement including processes that may impact key performance indicators.

THE POSITION

This internship is an opportunity for a self-motivated and independent graduate student researcher to gain research and development experience in a fast paced, team-oriented setting.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Under supervision, the selected Intern will assist a Field Services employee in evaluating basic customer equipment issues, implementing appropriate repairs; as assigned, performing planned maintenance (PM) inspections, and maintaining effective customer relations.

• Maintain daily communications with customers as directed, to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to customer satisfaction.

• Will assist more experienced engineers on progressive repairs and resolution.

• Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule.

• Meet Environment Health and Safety requirements.

• Evaluate processes and/or procedures and provide analysis to drive process improvement.

DESIRED SKILLS

• The ability to identify potential problems and provide relevant solutions

• Hands-on laboratory experience is preferred

• Excellent written and verbal presentation skills

• Demonstrated ability to work alongside scientists from different backgrounds in a team-oriented environment.

REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for an internship, prospective students must:

• Be enrolled in a degree program progressing towards a B.S. degree in chemistry, polymer science, biochemistry, engineering or other relevant field

• Be enrolled in an accredited advanced degree program

• Have experience in a research laboratory setting

• Knowledge and experience with AA, ICP, IC, HPLC, GC/GCMS, LSMS is a plus

• Ability to work flexible hours and travel internationally as required

• Aptitude in troubleshooting, test, repair, and servicing of technical equipment

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Proficiency in English is preferred

• Professional capacities in communication, self-motivation, collaborative and independent work, leadership, and interpersonal skills

• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

• Must have a valid driver's license

• Be available for full-time assignment during the dates outlined for the Internship
