Intern - Early Clinical Development - Information Management Office South San Francisco California, United States of America Job ID:201812-131744 -The Position Start Date: Summer 2019 Work Hours: 40 hours per week Location: South San Francisco Length of assignment:6 months, but potential to extend to 1 year Within this intern role, you will be supporting the Information Management Office (IMO), which is a sub-group of Early Clinical Development Informatics (ECDi) within Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED) Early Clinical Development (ECD) Operations. ECD Operations provides expertise and oversight to early development clinical trial programs that support the overall development strategies of the gRED portfolio. Gain hands-on experience in the day-to-day activities within gRED ECD Informatics, while also obtaining a high-level understanding of the execution of clinical trials needed to bring drugs to patients. This position will report into ECDis Information Management Office (IMO), responsible for delivering high quality data to ECD Ops critical systems and customers. Internship tasks will be focused on supporting the data quality and data governance activities in support of IMOs mission. You may be required to do the following tasks: -Participate in data analysis and data cleaning activities focused on providing new data assets to the organization to support operations and strategy -Participate in cross-functional data standards discussions and help facilitate the review and adoption of new data standards with ECD Operations stakeholders -Participate in the review and remediation of data quality issues, including working with data owners to correct errors Assignment of tasks may change based on the interests of the intern. Who You Are To be successful in this role, you will be or you will have: -At a minimum, a senior undergraduate level at a college or university -Some drug development experience, particularly in clinical research -A background or experience in information, systems or data management -Technical skills preferably in SQL and python with interest in continuing to advance -Excellent organization, interpersonal skills and an attention to detail -The ability to work independently and proactively in a sustainable fashion with minimal guidance -Flexibility and the ability to interact well within a team setting and work well in an ambiguous setting -Demonstration to communicate and collaborate effectively with junior and senior level individuals -Experience using traditional business tools for productivity including Word, Excel, PowerPoint The statements made in the job description are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.
