Intern - Corporate Groups - Direct Materials Procurement South San Francisco California, United States of America Job ID:201805-103988 -The Position The Position: The Intern responsibilities are to support all TOP Direct Materials Procurement Local/Global Category Managers, primarily reporting to the Global Elastomers and Seals Category Manager. This position will require strategic thinking, project management, collaboration, communication, technical/operational skills, influencing abilities, and presentation and facilitation skills. TOP Direct Materials Procurement is responsible for maximizing the value delivered to Genentech of across to Drug Substance and Drug Product portfolio of cGMP direct material goods and services. He/she will support Global and Local Category Managers in leading cross-functional teams to develop and implement optimal total-cost-of-ownership solutions that address supply chain, operations, and quality business requirements. The intern will develop and implement projects internally (within Roche) and externally (with suppliers) for operational optimization, quality improvement, global network alignment, and cost savings initiatives. He/she shall also assist in regular management of Key Direct Material Suppliers to monitor and control commercial supply and quality performance. And project management of development and strategic business initiatives. Qualifications Education and experience: -Junior or Senior graduating with a bachelor's or masters degree, preferable technical degree (science background), engineering, or operations management, or finance with science minor, and a strong interest in biotech -Available for a minimum 6 month to 1 year internship -Highly effective at initiating and leading cross functional teams by building internal and external relationships -Self-starter who navigates and takes advantage of ambiguity to seek the most effective and sustainable outcomes -Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills - Ability to operate and execute effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and challenging deadlines -Process-oriented with strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and creative problem solving capabilities -Excellent written and verbal communication, influencing and persuasion skills -Demonstrates a sense of urgency and proactive approach that is results focused -Who We Are A member of the Roche Group, Genentech has been at the forefront of the biotechnology industry for more than 40 years, using human genetic information to develop novel medicines for serious and life-threatening diseases.
