    This position provides a variety of hands on experience and training needed to become an effective, well-rounded Civil Construction Engineer by exposure to both technical and administrative duties.

     

     

    Typical responsibilities require applying critical engineering and management thinking which includes: estimating, design, scheduling, compliance review, procurement, surveying, production tracking, change order preparation, material testing and analysis, and cost report management.  We are seeking professionals who are committed to safety, quality, and productivity.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    •Apply critical engineering and management thinking

    •Assist in development and implementation of safety plans

    •Conduct site audits and material testing and analysis

    •Perform inventory checks, daily field engineering tests, and cost analyses

    •Complete change order preparations and production tracking

    •Assist with drawings (method/field) estimating, scheduling, and surveying

    •Support with procurement and quality assurance reviews

    •Maintaining files and records, copying, and scanning

    •Process charts/graphs, designs, and proposals

    •Assume additional responsibilities as directed

     

    This is a full-time internship requiring 40+ hours per week.

    Our Fall Co-op/Interns will work approximately September - December 2019.   

    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

    •Candidate must be currently enrolled in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering & Management, or other related program at the time of their internship, as well as having completed their sophomore year

    •Candidates should possess leadership potential, be problem-solvers, and be able to make decisions in a fast-paced environment

    •AutoCAD experience preferred

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, tools, or manipulate controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and construction equipment; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock where employee must utilize the proper personal protective equipment and/or other safeguards for their protection.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

    Our co-op and intern program offers eligible college students an opportunity to alternate sessions of work and school with the added benefit of graduating with relevant work experience. Working in a variety of locations throughout the U.S. allows exposure to diverse work groups while providing invaluable leadership experience.

     

    If relocation is required, it will be paid for by Traylor Bros. Interns may be assigned to any of our active projects or offices nationwide. This is opportunity is full-time requiring 40+ hours per week. This can be an internship or co-op position, depending on the university requirements of the student. This opportunity will last from approximately January - May 2020, but we can be flexible on dates.

    • Works from complicated blueprints, Material Review Boards, dispositions, Piper Process Specifications(PPS), Piper Material Specifications (PMS), Purchase Specifications (PS), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations, Quality Assurance Manuals (QAM), various handbooks, travelers, engineering/tooling/rework orders, and written/verbal instructions.
    • Receive work assignment from supervisor, engineering, and or manufacturing.
    • Insure that only the latest approved applicable drawings, specifications, Federal Aviation Regulations, Quality Assurance Manual, and instructions are used during inspection and testing.
    • Use all varieties of precision measuring instruments.
    • Perform First Part and Conformity inspections, as required.
    • Accept/reject according to specifications.
    • Examine defective parts to determine cause of defect and recommends changes or modifications.
    • Monitor rework/repair.
    • Note and report deviations from established specifications and initiate required documentation to effect corrections.
    • Review all tooling fixtures ensure safe operation.
    • Provide written report regarding inspection and testing results as required.
    • Other duties as assigned by Leadperson/Supervisor.
    • Interface with assigned engineering and tooling personnel, define problems and make effective recommendations to eliminate causes.
    • Inspect, and verify all tools to be used in the manufacturing of aircraft, parts and assemblies are in compliance with all of the latest approved applicable drawings, specifications and Quality Assurance/Tooling Manuals.
    • Test units for fit of moving parts and mechanical functioning.
    • Test parts for hardness.
    • Determine proper method of inspecting tools, parts or assemblies and plan gauging set-ups and appropriate measuring instruments/devices to be used to check dimensions, angles, and location of details where the design of items being inspected requires considerable thought and planning.
    • Devise unusual measuring or gauging setups.
    • Recommends corrective procedures to tooling, methods or engineering departments.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records, files, and reports of all inspections and test conducted.
    • Scrutinize every facet of job and report improper operation, tooling fixtures, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to Leadperson/Supervisor.
    • Requires the use of basic tools and various hand tools as specified by departmental tool list.
    • Perform housekeeping chores as department requirements dictate.
    • Works independently with little or no direction from Leadperson/Supervisor.
