    GRADUATE ENGINEER I - COMMERCIAL AND LAND DEVELOPMENT - LAS VEGAS, NV

    WESTWOOD PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, INC. is seeking a Graduate Engineer I to join our Commercial and Land Development teams in our Las Vegas, NV office.  Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. 

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    Under direction and supervision of a licensed civil engineer, use gain technical expertise and design experience to proficiently assist the commercial development team in all areas of local site civil design and off-site improvements to include but not limited to:

     

    • Data collection and analysis
    • Assist in the preparation of schematic exhibits, calculating quantities and checking the accuracy and date of work
    • All other related work as assigned by supervisor to support the Commercial Land Development team
    • Prepares construction drawing to include horizontal control plans; grading plans, roadway plan and profiles, details ADA accessibility, storm drain facilities; signing and striping plans; utility plans (water and sanitary sewer), utility plan and profiles and details

       

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • High School Diploma or equivalent and 4+ years experience; or
    • Associates Degree or equivalent and 2+ years of experience; or
    • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with no experience required, but 2-3 years of experience preferred
    • EIT preferred

     

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

     

    • Demonstrates willingness to accept new challenges and responsibilities
    • Ability to follow general direction and work independently and within a team
    • Knowledge of Civil3D software
    • On the job training to learn knowledge of firm's policies, practices, standards and local/standard agency regulations and standards

    Education/Experience:

    Must meet CLIA 88 personnel requirements for high complexity testing

     

    Language Ability:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. 

     

    Math Ability:

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

     

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

     

    Computer Skills:

    Word processing, Spreadsheets, E-mail, Laboratory Information Systems.

     

    Certificates and Licenses:

    Certification by a recognized certifying agency for clinical laboratory professionals preferred (ASCP, ASMT, NCA, etc). Certifications may be required in specialized areas of the laboratory.
