    ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR FOR ARCHITECTURE, ENGINEERING, AND CONSTRUCTION (AEC)

    SUMMARY OF JOB:

     

    The Adjunct Instructor for AEC teaches a core course in the Building Crafts Certificate program. The Building Crafts Certificate program is centered around basic construction skills and evaluation of competencies arising from internship and practicum experience gained through Program industry partners, including Habitat of Metro Denver.

     

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    The Adjunct Instructor for AEC teaches one section of AEC 280 every Fall and Spring semester. Classes times are scheduled during the evening hours for this position. The Adjunct Instructor for AEC collaborates with the Chair and other instructors to develop courses and coordinate content with other courses within the program.

     

     

    MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    EDUCATION:       

    The successful AEC adjunct instructor must have a Master’s degree in Architecture or related Master’s degree, and at least 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline to be taught.  

     

    EXPERIENCE:    

    2000 hours minimum of documented professional work experience in traditional construction, design-build, or construction fabrication; active professional licensure can be evaluated for satisfaction of the requirement for currency of professional experience.

     

     

    LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    EXPERIENCE:       

    University level teaching experience of construction techniques within the last 10 years. 

     

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:     

    • Familiarity with common digital design software.
    • Proficiency in hand drawing, sketching, and drafting.

     

    LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:      

    Architectural licensure in the state of Colorado is desirable but not required.

  • Qualifications

    Instructors must be able to communicate effectively to their audience, be comfortable with public speaking, be able to stand for durations of time, engage with the customers in a way that will edify their experience, and have some basic presentation skills.

     

    We offer as resources: a lab top or computer, a clicking device that can be used with a PowerPoint presentation, and a projector; Instructors must be comfortable with these basic technological resources with minimal assistance provided.
