    ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR FOR HEALTH AND WELLNESS

    PURPOSE/SUMMARY OF JOB:

     

    The Adjunct Instructor for Health and Wellness will be responsible for teaching one (1) or more courses within the program(s).  Courses may include Human Nutrition, Fitness and Wellness, and Applied Nutrition to Whole Food Cooking.  Adjunct instructors who hold the RDN or RD licensure may also be asked to teach in the Certified Dietary Manager program. 

     

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    The Adjunct Instructor for Health and Wellness will teach assigned classes. The days and times of classes are dependent on schedule, budget, and enrollment. Teaching responsibilities may be located on either the Auraria or Lowry Campuses. New hire adjuncts teach primarily in the classroom during regular college hours.

     

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    EDUCATION:       

    The successful Health and Wellness adjunct instructor must have a Master’s degree in Nutrition or related Master’s degree, and at least 18 graduate credit hours in Nutrition.  

     

    EXPERIENCE:    

    2000 hours of verified work experience in field. 

     

    LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    EXPERIENCE:       

    • Previous experience teaching in a college setting.
    • Previous experience teaching online courses.

     

    KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:     

    • Experience with learning management systems.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

     

    LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:      

    Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential is preferred but not required.

  • Qualifications

    Instructors must be able to communicate effectively to their audience, be comfortable with public speaking, be able to stand for durations of time, engage with the customers in a way that will edify their experience, and have some basic presentation skills.

    We offer as resources: a lab top or computer, a clicking device that can be used with a PowerPoint presentation, and a projector; Instructors must be comfortable with these basic technological resources with minimal assistance provided.
