    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    • Collaborate with Molecular Biologists, Bioinformatic Specialists, and Translational Scientists in an R&D environment with a focus on development of infrastructure tools and application analysis development pipelines.
    • Work closely with Bioinformatics software engineering teams to optimize and deliver automated solutions for archiving and data backup of next generation sequencing data (NGS) in local NAS and cloud environments per requirements.
    • Gather requirements, develop test plans, and develop and deploy stable modules to support archiving and backup of NGS data as required by external regulators
    • Test and Validate automated backup solution along with an indexing strategy to easily retrieve relevant data based on archive properties
    • Assist with analysis of NGS data as well as researching potential data compression strategies.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Pursing a Master's Degree in computer science/engineering
    • 3+ years of software development skills and experience is required
    • Strong development skills using Python (and secondarily Perl/shell) is needed
    • Strong expertise working in a Linux/Unix environment and working with large data sets is a priority
    • Good understanding of software design, local and distributed storage systems (local NAS and AWS) is a plus
    • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with scientists, engineers and software developers and be detail oriented and self-driven.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Knowledge of SQL, and GUI design for database queries/reports
    • Product development and / or industry experience in a multi-disciplinary Biotech environment is a plus.
