  • Responsibilities

    The Information Security Software Tester Internship position provides an opportunity for engineering students who are currently pursuing a computer science, information security, or like degree to get hands on experience working with penetration testers in an information security environment. The intern will contribute to web testing practices, and supporting the vulnerability research program. The position starts in May/June, paid working 40 hours per week through August. Opportunity exists for this position to continue through the academic year on a part-time basis to allow for class schedules.

    Essential Functions

    • Provide support related to product development including security testing
    • Performing web application testing to identify or validate security vulnerabilities
    • Be involved with the vulnerability research program by processing reports, and following upon resolutions
    • Provide feedback
    • Learn about security testing and research through daily activities.
    • Accept candid feedback and look for areas of improvements
    • Specific tasks will be tailored to the interns experience level and abilities. Interns will work closely with other testers and researchers
  • Qualifications
    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other related degree
    • To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.
    • Some experience, classroom or otherwise, with pen testing tools such as Backbox, Kali, Samurai WTF and similar - limited experience is OK, you will be taught typical tools
    • Exposure to basic information security concepts such as Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability
    • Exposure to basic networking concepts such as packets, DNS, routing
  • Desired skills
    • Understanding basic information security concepts
    • Ability to follow testing procedures
    • Ability to troubleshoot problems, think differently about problems
    • Understanding of web applications and how they operate is helpful
    • Customer service and communication skills a must! You will be talking to lots of people!
