    Summary:

    We are seeking a creative and motivated scientist to join our Molecular Biology Product Development (R&D) team at Thermo Fisher Scientific to participate in the development of new products and evaluation of new technologies with a focus on Pharmacogenomics and Precision Medicine applications using high-density DNA oligonucleotide microarrays.

    The position starts in May or June, paid working 40 hours per week through August.

    Responsibilities:

    This is a laboratory-based position and the individual will plan, execute and analyze experiments for both new and sustaining microarray products. This position will interact with a diverse and cross-functional team of scientists and data analysts to assist in a variety of R&D efforts.

    • Take accountability for project deliverables, implement project plans and oversee their execution.
    • Participate in internal scientific seminars and may represent company/division through talks, tutorials, publications

  • Qualifications

    Required Experience:

    • Currently enrolled in M.S program in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or another related discipline (highly qualified college Junior or Senior might be considered)
    • Has a strong knowledge of relevant scientific fields including nucleic acid isolation, nucleic acid hybridization, PCR, and enzyme characterization
    • Demonstrates mastery of laboratory methods and shows the ability to develop new methods.
    • Analyzes experimental data, and effectively explain conclusions. Designs and executes follow-on experiments independently.
    • Uses word processing, graphing, presentation and spreadsheet programs effectively.
    • Demonstrates effective communication skills
    • Demonstrated ability to identify and solve difficult and complex multi-factorial problems.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
    • Must be organized and keep clear records of experiments and data
