    LOCATION/DIVISION SPECIFIC INFORMATION

    Location: Remote, North America

    • Seeking two (2) Remote Summer Interns for 2023 for IES Division of LPD in the WEST

    • One in San Diego, CA reporting to Zak Cullum

    • One in San Jose, CA reporting to Mike Addison

    • Will work remotely and in Customer Sites

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    The role of the Summer Intern will have 3 major components:

    1. Work as part of the Remote Monitoring Team (IES LPD) learning the business and the role of the Field Service Engineer, experiencing first-hand what it takes to service our key customers.

    2. Complete a defined project and deliver a presentation to the leadership team at the completion of the Program. The assigned project will include the installation of smart devices to achieve predictive analysis and proactive repair.

    3. Participate in a Volunteer Project (either remotely or face-to-face).

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Available fulltime (40 hrs/week) for 10-12 weeks.

    • Flexible to travel to customer sites and work remotely, as assigned.

    • Work side-by-side with Field Service Engineers in the LPD Division

    • Learn the LPD Business and the role of the Remote Monitoring Team

    • Work well with and learn from Engineers as they service the needs of our customers

    • Work on an assigned project to be completed before the end of the Summer Program

    • Participate in a Volunteer Activity (to be determined)

    • Represent the company in a positive, professional manner in all dealings with Thermo Fisher Scientific employees, customers, and representatives. Assures the highest level of customer satisfaction with Thermo Fisher Scientific products and services.

    EDUCATION

    • Must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing an Associate's or Bachelors’ degree in Engineering or related field.

    • Graduating students are eligible only if they are returning to school the following semester to pursue the next level degree.

    • Must be in good academic standing.

    • Must recruit from accredited colleges/universities near existing large customer site(s) as determined by the hiring manager to meet intern project assignment

    EXPERIENCE

    • Customer Service work experience is a plus

    • IT and/or Engineering work experience is a plus

    • Microsoft Suite

    • Technical experience is a plus

    • Self-starter with a strong desire to learn

    • Self-directed with a passion to deliver an outstanding customer experience

    • Is curious, inquisitive, and innovative with excellent problem-solving skills

    • Ability to manage time to both learn and complete project(s) prior to the end of the Summer Intern Program

    • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication

    • Ability to identify specific problems, determine desired end-result, and the vital tasks needed to solve the problems
