Lighthouse Lab Services is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to support daily operations in our busy histology laboratory near Westbrook, CT. This entry-level role is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in a clinical lab setting. You’ll play a key part in helping the team prepare tissue samples, maintain lab equipment, and ensure smooth workflow behind the scenes.
What You’ll Do:
Assist with specimen receipt, accessioning, and labeling
Help with the preparation and handling of tissue samples
Clean and maintain laboratory instruments and workspaces
Stock supplies and ensure the lab is organized and ready for daily operations
Support histotechnologists and pathologists with slide preparation and sample setup
Follow all lab safety protocols, including biohazard handling and disposal
Perform clerical and data entry tasks as needed
What We’re Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s in a science-related field is a plus
Prior lab or healthcare experience is helpful but not required—training will be provided
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
Comfortable with routine, repetitive tasks and maintaining accuracy
Basic computer skills and familiarity with lab documentation
Pay & Benefits:
Hourly rate: $18–$22/hour depending on experience
