    Lighthouse Lab Services is excited to be representing a growing independent reference laboratory in Newport Beach, CA! This client is looking for a Laboratory Financial Controller to add to their friendly team.  

    Position Summary

    Client is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee the organization’s financial team. The ideal candidate will have proven industry experience as an accountant in a senior role. This position will be responsible for all accounting functions related to monthly financial close and will assist in any special projects assigned to the position. This role will also manage the Billing and account department. You will produce thorough financial-status reports for senior management to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth

    Essential Responsibilities:

    • Prepares monthly general and adjusting journal entries, comparative reports, account reconciliations, and cost reports.
    • Prepares the month-ending closeout process (general ledger through physician compensation plan).
    • Prepares accurate monthly financial statements and physician capital account reconciliations. Analyzes and reps on monthly financial variances.
    • Maintains the company’s system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets.
    • Assists independent auditors with interim and year-end audits and verifies the accuracy of reports.
    • Prepares major clinic financial reports, project forecasts, and various other analyses.
    • Keeps informed of all government regulations and procedures affecting finance and accounting procedures.
    • Reviews all general ledger transactions to verify accuracy of coding, classifying, and posting as well as ensuring proper authorization is obtained for purchases.
    • Prepares reports of budget expenditures, revenues, and account balances.
    • Assists the accounting team with problems related to tracking and inputting data into a proper accounting format.
    • Assists with the selection, training, and performance evaluation of assigned staff.
    • Evaluating operational trends and making recommendations on how to maximize financial resources.
    • Ensuring regulatory and loan compliance.
    • Maximize tax saving options by being familiar with the tax rules.
    • Maintains the strictest confidentiality.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field (required)
    • Minimum of 5-year proven accounting experience preferably in healthcare
    • Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP)
    • Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis
    • Proven experience in streamlining accounting processes
    • Exemplary history of financial project management
    • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
    • Experience with healthcare reimbursement a must

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    Advanced-level skills in Excel are required. Working knowledge of accounting systems and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of accounts payable practices and business office procedures. Skill in the use of accounting programs, spreadsheets, a variety of computer applications, and a 10-key calculator. Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness. Attention to detail is essential. Ability to work effectively with coworkers as a team member. Ability to communicate clearly.
