Lighthouse Lab Services is looking for a Lead Hematologist t to join a well-established independent reference laboratory located in Atlanta, Georgia. In this leadership role, the Lead Hematologist will be responsible for overseeing the hematology department, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, and driving innovation in the diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders.
Position Responsibilities
- Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
- Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
- Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
- Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
- Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
- Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
- Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
- Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
- Assist with processing of specimens when needed
- Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Knowledge And Skills Required
- Technical skills and aptitudes related to the laboratory testing, procedures and processes performed in department or work area assigned
- Follows and ensures adherence of staff, to the Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies; protects confidentiality of patient information and results at all times
- Ability to work independently and adapt to varying priorities, including directing workflow with minimal supervision
- Ability to maintain equipment/records and perform quality assessment activities
- Ability to educate and train new staff in medical laboratory settings
- Able to effectively communicate in verbal and written English with patients, staff, partners and customers of varied backgrounds in a respectful, effective, and professional manner
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. Ability to operate computer systems in order to maintain patient documentation, testing records, and other related documents
Education And Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology field
- Proven leadership experience in a hematology department or laboratory setting.
- Must hold a national certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist such as ASCP, AAB, or AMT
Shift, Salary, Benefits
- Day Shifts – Monday to Friday. Occasional Saturdays when needed.
- Offering $70-80k (DoE)
